Travel and Tourism Management

About this course

Travel and Tourism Management is joint online programme offered in cooperation between Northern Arctic Federal University, Russia, UiT The Arctic University of Norway and Lapland University of Applied Sciences, Finland.
The aim of the programme is to provide the students with an understanding of how the travel and tourism industry works, and to acquire knowledge of important topics for the industry today and in the future in order to develop a sustainable travel and tourism industry for the environment, the local communities and the economy.
The programme targets students who are studying or who wish to study travel and tourism, as well as people who are already working within this field. This is a part time programme of study yielding 90 ECTS over a period of one and a half years and, as such, is suitable both for students working in the industry or completing at other programmes of study.
Highly qualified lecturers will be teaching and supervising students thus securing an international profile particularly focus on the Arctic area.
During 3 semesters studying the programme offers four modules in Introduction to Tourism Management, Business administration and strategic marketing, Heritage and sustainable tourism, Project work with research methodology/thesis. The lectures are given online once a week.
The Travel and Tourism Management Programme is realizing on the base of e-platform. All lectures are recorded to give access to the materials to those who couldn’t attend online lecture in time. The language of instruction is English.
TTM graduates will be awarded transcript of records and one common certificate jointly issued by all three institutions.
Summer and/or Winter schools are provided within the programme. Students can attend the educational one week trip to Partner University with attractive programme which will include lectures and workshops with participation of local authorities and tourist companies and also visits of local tourist destinations.
The programme opens job prospectives and qualifies the student for positions in marketing, attraction development and leader positions in both small and medium sized companies within the fields of travel and tourism.
